Vikram Misri: Navigating India’s Foreign Policy

Vikram Misri, a seasoned diplomat, served as India’s Foreign Secretary from January 2022 to February 2023. His career, spanning over three decades, reflects a deep understanding of international relations and a commitment to advancing India’s strategic interests on the global stage. His tenure as Foreign Secretary, though relatively brief, saw him navigating complex geopolitical landscapes and strengthening India’s ties with key partners.

A 1989 batch officer of the Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Misri’s diplomatic journey began with postings in Brussels, Myanmar, and Spain. These early experiences provided him with a foundation in diverse regional dynamics and diplomatic practices. A significant turning point in his career came with his assignment as Private Secretary to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, a role that provided invaluable insight into the highest levels of Indian policymaking and strategic decision-making.
