Vili Saarijärvi is a Finnish professional ice hockey defenseman currently playing for SCL Tigers of the National League (NL). Born on May 6, 1997, in Rovaniemi, Finland, Saarijärvi has built a reputation as a skilled and agile defenseman with a knack for offensive contributions.
Saarijärvi’s journey in hockey began in his native Finland. He quickly rose through the ranks, showcasing exceptional talent and hockey sense. His performances in junior leagues caught the attention of scouts, and he was selected 73rd overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. Prior to being drafted, Saarijärvi played junior hockey in Finland for Kärpät.
Following his draft, Saarijärvi opted to hone his skills in North America, playing in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the Flint Firebirds and later the Mississauga Steelheads.
